About This Class:
- Comedy for the Serious Actor is the tool kit and instruction manual for the actor who wants to expand his or her understanding of what comedy is and how to be successful in bringing it to life.
- Using Improvisation, classical and modern monologues, exercises from classic repertory companies, and both historic and modern approaches, we will explore what comedy is and is not.
- From Aristotle to the present, we will identify and isolate the building blocks of how to make great comedy: be it farce, satire, or slapstick.
- You will be able to read any script or audition piece and know what it needs to make it work - from Shakespeare to sitcoms.
- The class is designed for actors, directors, and writers.
